Why original branding beats a template, and what it actually involves

There's never been more choice for a new logo: template sites, online generators and design apps can produce something in minutes. So why pay for original branding? Because the quickest logo is often the one hundreds of other businesses already have.

A brand should be recognisably yours

Template logos are built to suit everyone, which means they suit no one in particular. Customers notice when two local businesses share the same swoosh or the same leaf icon. Original work starts with your business, not a library of ready-made shapes.

What happens in an original logo project

When I design a logo, I start with questions: who are your customers, what do you want them to feel, and what makes you different? Then I sketch, usually far more ideas than you'll see. The strongest become two distinct directions. You choose one, and I refine it in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW until it works at every size, in colour and in black and white.

It has to work everywhere

A good logo looks right on a website, a van, a business card and a social profile picture. That's why every logo I deliver comes in colour, black and white versions, in SVG, PDF and PNG formats.

Consistency builds trust

The logo is only the start. Matching colours, fonts and layouts across everything you produce make a small business look established. A short set of brand guidelines keeps everyone, from staff to printers, using it the right way.

Is it worth it?

Your brand is on every quote, invoice and post you send for years. An original identity is a one-off investment that keeps working for you.
